William Charles Shugart, AIA

Charlie Shugart, AIA, Principal, earned both an undergraduate and Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University. For 16 years, before the formation of Shugart Wasse Wickwire he was the founding principal of TECNIKOS (1992), an award-winning Architectural | Interior firm known for its innovative design approach to all building types; including single-family homes, multifamily housing, mixed-use building complexes, and sports facilities. His private residential work has won awards from the American Institute of Architects and has been featured in various publications from Seattle to Japan. Regional publication titles include Seattle Metropolitan, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, Northwest Home & Garden and Pacific Magazine.
Charlie holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree (1982) and a Masters of Architecture degree (1985) from Columbia University
Shannon Murphy Shugart
Principal Interior Designer

Principal Interior Designer Shannon Murphy Shugart brings over 25 years of Interior Design experience to Shugart Wasse Wickwire. Shannon’s design and development participation includes a varied range of residential, commercial and multi-family projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. She has a Unique perspective on creating Interiors which complement the Architecture in a holistic approach to the design. She is an expert on understanding current trends, targeting demographics, and creating spaces which flow together and inspire.
As Principal Interior Designer Shannon’s exceptional organizational skills and ability to keep projects within budget have won Shannon many loyal clients. Directly involved with each project she is well-known for her ability to respond to client needs and her effectiveness to work in partnership with other design consultants.
Shannon received her degree from Cornish College of the Arts in 1985.
Matthew Wasse, AIA
Matt is a skilled designer with a passion for sustainable development. Trained in Passive House strategies, Matt brings over 15 years’ experience and a commitment to high-performance design to his role as Principal Architect at Shugart Wasse Wickwire.
Matt’s former experience ranges from mixed-use commercial to multi-family and custom residential. Prior to his current role, Matt was a sole practitioner and lead designer at a design-build firm.
Matthew Wasse holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Washington (2001).
George Wickwire, AIA
“Creating a special place begins with an understanding of what is unique about a community, with that in mind our focus becomes the development of an endearing destination that highlights those attributes.”
George works to create successful design solutions that highlight the unique attributes of the surrounding area. He exhibits his leadership ability by incorporating this principal throughout the entire design process – believing that community acceptance of projects translates to fiscal success. With over 30 years of retail and mixed-use design knowledge, he manages an efficient design and documentation process that delivers projects on time and within clearly established budgets.
George holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University of Washington (1978), and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (1982)
